The original settlement area of Albany, which
is bound on the north by the Willamette River, Thurston Street on
the east, Pacific Boulevard on the south and Elm Street on the west
contains a large concentration of historic buildings (400). These houses,
commercial buildings, schools and churches are clues to this history
of a prosperous Oregon river town community.
Reflected in Albanys Historic architecture is a sense of the past, and those who are interested in history and architecture can use the buildings that remain to step back to the 1840s and travel forward to the 1980s and take a tour of Oregons built environment.
