Rural Vernacular

Rural Vernacular buildings can be found all around the City of Albany. Typically they were built by the owner with materials that were easily available in the mid-Willamette Valley. From about 1870-1900 the main characteristics of the style include:
- Gable roof
- "T" or "L" Floor Plan formed by rectangular volumes placed at right angles.
- Shiplap siding
- Corner boards
- Freeze boards at roof lines
- One and one-half stories tall
