After reviewing Albany's economic trends, commercial and industrial lands and land needs, the City has adopted revisions to the Albany Comprehensive Plan & Map, Albany Development Code, and Albany Zoning Map in order to meet our economic needs to 2020.
The Council adopted revisions to the Comprehensive Plan and Map on October 23, 2002. On January 8, 2003, the Albany City Council adopted Ordinance 1 (#5555) that revised the Albany Zoning Map and the Albany Development Code. This ordinance rezoned many properties (property owner requests), created the Regional Commercial zone, deleted the Heavy Commercial zone (Article 4), and modifies some development standards for the commercial and industrial zones (Article 4). Ordinance 2 (#5556), adopted January 22, 2003, created the Mixed Use Commercial zone (Article 5) and added a maximum building size limit to the Community Commercial zone.
