Draft Vulnerable Populations Emergency Plan available for Public Review

Linn and Benton counties and the City of Albany have completed a joint draft plan to assist vulnerable populations in times of emergency and invite the public to review it and comment.

The plan is an annex to emergency operations plans in both counties.  It addresses specific emergency needs and assistance that members of vulnerable populations may have before, during, and after an emergency incident.  The planning serves a range of residents who may not be able to comfortably or safely access and use the standard resources offered in disaster preparedness, relief, and recovery, including seniors, people with disabilities, people who are geographically isolated, those with limited English proficiency, and those who live in group/care facilities.

A copy of the plan is available on the City of Albany website, in hard copy at the Corvallis-Benton County Library, and both branches of the Albany Public Library.  Alternative formats will be made available on request for persons with disabilities.

Comments should be in writing and may be submitted This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. , or by mailing to Emergency Management Specialist, P.O. Box 490, Albany OR 97321.  Alternative means of filing comments, such as personal interviews, will be available on request for persons with disabilities.  Comments will be accepted through March 17, 2013.

The draft Vulnerable Populations Emergency Plan is part of an ongoing effort to adequately plan for emergencies and to increase and ensure disability access in programs and activities.  To learn more about the draft plan, call Darrel Tedisch, Emergency Management Specialist, at 541-917-7725 or visit www.cityofalbany.net.
