Public Records Requests
The City of Albany takes pride in making information available to the public under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).
Please fill out an official Public Records Request form. These requests go to the City Clerk in the Finance Department for processing and help us to insure you receive prompt service.
In the 2009-2010 fiscal year ending June 30, 2010, the City of Albany City Clerk's Office received 22 official requests and responded to all of them. Of those 22:
- 18 were responded to in 0 to 1 day
- 1 was responded to in 2 days
- 1 was responded to in 3 days, and
- 2 were responded to in 4 days
The final completion times of those requests were:
- 8 were completed in 0 to 1 day
- 2 were completed in 2 days
- 1 was completed in 4 days
- 1 was completed in 5 days
- 3 were completed in 6 or more days
- 3 were referred and completed by other departments, and
- 4 were referred to the City Attorney.
Public Records Requests received by the Police Department, Fire Department, and Municipal Court are not included in these statistics.
Litigation Issues
The city is not being sued for failure to provide documents, nor have we been required to provide documents by a court due to a refusal by the city.
