Would you rather make your own maps or do your own analysis? Here's the place to start. With ArcExplorer from Environmental Systems Research Institute, Inc. (ESRI) you can get up and running with your own homegrown GIS. The first thing you'll need to do (if you haven't already) is visit ESRI's site and download and install ArcExplorer. Once you've done that, you're ready to grab some data. Go to this page for Albany data. Check out ArcGIS Online for data and applications. There's also Federal, State and Local geographic data at Geospatial One Stop.

Places to find City GIS Data
GIS information can also be obtained by visiting the Main Library, or the Public Works or Community Development counters at City Hall. At the library, a public access terminal is located at the reference desk. At City Hall, staff can assist the public with accessing GIS at front counter terminals. All locations provide the ability to review property specific information.
