Albany Parks and Recreation Camps are back for another exciting summer filled with games, swimming, adventures, and fun!
These camps are perfect opportunities for those children who are involved in many activities but still want to go to camp a few days a week. It is a great way to keep your child physically active and engaged during the summer months while building their social interaction skills. They’ll enjoy a wide variety of fun-filled themed camps including games, sports, arts, crafts, and more! Most camps will visit the COOL! Pool in the afternoons for water fun. Many of our camps include field trip adventures, while others involve performances or specialty acts participating in the camp. Check out the excited places we’ll be visiting. Morning and afternoon snacks as well as lunch will be provided. Your child will also receive a camp t-shirt. Caution Kids Constructing: Ages 7-11
You don’t have to be Tim the Tool Man Taylor or Rosie the Riveter to enjoy this awesome camp filled with tools and construction fun. Your young builder will learn to use basic tools as they construct a bird house and wooden boxes. Your child will make delicious dirt ball snacks, construction vests, caution tape wreaths and head home with a hard hat! And after a morning hard work, play, and tool time, it will be pool time of course at Cool! Pool!
Monday-Wednesday, June 30-July 2, 8am-4:30pm
Land, Air and H2O: Ages 7-11
Your child’s imagination will take flight on this exploration of land, air, and sea! It’s time to get outside, explore the incredible world around us, and take a hike at beautiful McDowell Creek. We’ll make acorn frames and leaf mask crafts. Young campers will visit the Wings and Waves Water Park for a day of fun. This educational water park includes waterslides and a children’s museum dedicated to teaching students the power of water! There will be time to play games, create, light bulb hot air balloons, jelly fish, and pilot hats. Afternoons will be spent at COOL! Pool.
Monday-Wednesday, July 7-9, 8am-4:30pm
Kids In The Kitchen: Ages 7-11
There’s no need to have a kitchen nightmare when your little chef tries their hand with culinary creations! If your child loves making a mess in the kitchen and can’t wait to be the next top chef, this is the camp for them! From fruit parfaits to pizza and other fabulous food delights, your child will gain an introduction to basic cooking techniques, food preparation, and kitchen safety. We’ll decorate chef attire, create unique recipe holders, and play food games. Every sweet tooth knows you have to stay physically active, so we’ll spend the afternoons in the COOL! Pool. (Bring a swimsuit and a towel each day).

Fantastic Four Legged Friends: Ages 5-7
Don’t miss this tail wagging good time! If your child loves animals they won’t want to miss this fantastic four-legged friend adventure. Your young camper will visit the Humane Society for a tour and activity. They’ll create pet wreaths, learn all about pets and how to take care of them, and make their own pet treats to take home. With “prrrfect” games and crafts it promises to be fun for everyone. Afternoons will be spent splashing it up at COOL! Pool
Thursday & Friday, July 17-18, 8am-4:30pm
Adventure Is Out There!: Ages 7-11
Your child will discover the world in this camp that will help them explore different cultures. Adventure is out there for your young camper! He or she will create Scottish Shields, whip up French and Greek recipes, and design a Dream Catcher or two. Your child will learn German songs and eat authentic food while hearing first hand what it is like to see the moon from the other side of the world. Campers will use games, crafts, food, and a visit with “Oma” to discover it all! Afternoons will be spent active at COOL! Pool.
Monday-Wednesday, July 21-23, 8am-4:30pm
Musical Moments: Ages 7-11
This camp promises to be a musical high note of the summer. Your young musician will make maracas, African thumb pianos, pencil xylophones, drums, a tambourine, and have a battle of the bands! They’ll learn all about music as they play music jeopardy. Your child will learn about music and instruments from people who play them! Afternoons will be spent at COOL! Pool.

Master Chef Juniors: Ages 7-11
Your young chef will explore playful and imaginative recipes as they learn to make cookie cupcakes, mini pies, mini meat loafs, fruit salad, homemade pretzels, rice crispy cinnamon rolls, and more. Campers will play fun food relays and compete at food trivia. Campers will prepare foods, learn valuable tips, practice food prep skills and learn about food safety. Every top chef knows that good food and being physically active are essential to keep the apron fitting so afternoons will be spent at COOL! Pool.
Monday-Wednesday, August 4-6, 8am-4:30pm
We’re All Mad Here: Ages 7-11
It’s mad science at its best! From mini-hovercraft, flubber, and a visit to OMSI your young scientist will be sent on a quest of exploration. Get ready…it’s time to build a giant ice bubble and grow our own bacteria! We’ll take breaks from our lab work with a dip in COOL! Pool in the afternoon.
Monday-Wednesday, August 11-13, 8am-4:30pm
Hometown Heroes: Ages 5-7
Does your child long to be the “top cop”? In this camp he or she will get up close and personal with our own “hometown heroes!” They will tour the police station and check out the squad cars. Your child will make “Cop”corn instead of popcorn, badges and hats, and play games that will leave them wanting to be the good guy. They may even eat a donut or two! Of course that will be all the more reason to stay in top crime-fighting shape with a visit to COOL! Pool in the afternoons.

Things to Know Before You Go!
- Children must wear their camp t-shirt on field trip days!
- Scholarships are available. Please contact us for more information.
- Lunches are provided through a partnership with Nutrition Services Summer Feeding Program…however, if your child has an allergy to a particular food, please plan on providing a lunch for them.
- Weekly schedules are tentative and subject to change!
- Children should bring a swim suit and a towel each day
- Maximum ratio of staff to children is 1 to 10.
- Don’t forget the sunscreen!
- All camps will be held at: Maple Lawn School located at 1950 Salem Ave. SE
