Home Delivered Meals (Meals on Wheels)
- Updated on Tuesday, November 05, 2013 November 05, 2013
The Meals on Wheels Program is designed for homebound seniors and the disabled under age 60 who receive Medicaid services and are unable to get to a dining room in their community. The Home Delivered Meal program is a service of the Oregon Cascades West Council of Government's Senior and Disability Services division. The home delivered meals are delivered by volunteer Meals on Wheels drivers.
Each meal provides one-third of the daily nutritional requirements. Diabetic diet substitutes are available upon request. A choice between two main dishes is offered each day. A variety of frozen meals are available for weekends and other days that the Meals on Wheels are not delivered. Monthly nutritional analysis is available upon request.
A donation of $3.50 per meal (approximately half of the actual cost of the meal) is suggested, although users contribute according to their ability to pay.
