July 7: The Willamette Valley Concert Band
The Willamette Valley Concert Band is a community ensemble formed in the spring of 1970 by a group of Albany musicians. Their first performance was for the Albany Spring Music Festival. The group´s purpose was to further the cultural environment of the community; to provide entertainment for the general public at concerts and other performances; and to offer the members an opportunity for personal self-expression through the medium of music. This purpose is still maintained. The band consists of about fifty-five area musicians ranging from teenagers to seniors with diverse occupations.
July 14: Tempest
Since forming in 1988, Tempest has delivered a globally-renowned hybrid of high-energy Folk Rock fusing Irish reels, Scottish ballads, Norwegian influences and otherworld music elements. The last 24 years have seen the San Francisco Bay Area based act release fifteen critically acclaimed CDs and play more than 2,000 gigs. It's also enjoyed an evolving line-up that's enabled musicianship and creativity to rise with each new member.
July 21: Albany Swing Band featuring Vocalist LeAnn Wind
The Albany Swing Band, based in Albany Oregon, has been performing in the Willamette Valley and around Oregon for over 30 years. You can find us blowing the sweet sounds of the big band era at dances, concerts, weddings, and any other special occasion where it don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing! Our library consists of nearly 200 charts including original standards from the 1930s and 1940s, cool modern jazz arrangements, hot Latin numbers, elegant waltzes, and even a polka to roll out the barrel by.
July 28: Concrete Loveseat
Originally beginning as a simple duo and some nostalgic reverie, Concrete Loveseat is now a vibrant band of eight with a big sound to match. Living in the Willamette Valley in Oregon, Concrete Loveseat creates original music with a backbone of inspiration from around the globe and across genres. They also breathe fresh air into American jazz standards and sprinkles in a mix of hand-picked and deliciously little known songs from far flung places leaving nothing untouched. They move effortlessly from vigorous and gripping high energy pieces to delicately nuanced ballads.
August 4: Willamette Master Chorus
Based in Salem Oregon, the Willamette Master Chorus comprises 75 veteran professional and dedicated amateur musicians. Founded through a joint effort of Lutheran Fine Arts Center and Willamette University, this auditioned choir brings to area audiences the finest in choral masterworks from the Renaissance through the 21st century.
