Chief Lattanzio 12.20.13Chief of Police Mario Lattanzio came to the Albany Police Department in July 2013 after two decades of law enforcement service with the Mesa, Arizona Police Department. Chief Lattanzio brings strong, proactive leadership and vision to respond to a diverse community like Albany.   Building trusted partnerships with community organizations, schools, other agencies and internal departments is a primary focus.  Creative and responsible solutions for reducing and preventing crime are encouraged, especially in response to community needs as expressed by our citizens. 

The administrative support staff includes Administrative Supervisor Norma Daily, Confidential Administrative Assistant Meaza Ridley, and Administrative Assistant Rochelle James.  Under the Chief’s direction, Administration prepares and administers the annual budgets of over $13 million dollars; provides internal human resources, personnel development, and payroll services; purchases equipment and uniforms; manages accounts payable; administers grants; and is the police liaison with the Public Safety Commission.

The eight-member Public Safety Commission is appointed by the City Council and advises the Council on matters pertaining to funding, operation, maintenance, facilities and other aspects of the Albany Police and Fire departments. Its mission is to help public safety departments maintain high standards and deliver the highest quality emergency safety services to the residents of Albany.
