The Finance Department manages the financial resources of the City, prepares the budget and financial statements, oversees the bid process, bond issues, purchasing, Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Quotations (RFQs), risk management, surplus property and the administrative operations for Albany Municipal Court.


Biennial Budget

The City of Albany operates on a biennial budget with a fiscal year running July 1-June 30.

Annual Financial Report

The Annual Comprehensive Financial Report is usually completed by the end of each calendar year.

Note: Prior to 2021, the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) referred to these documents as Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports.

Integrated Financial Management Assessment Plan

 

The City of Albany has won the Government Finance Officers Association Distinguished Budget Presentation Award since 1991. In order to receive this award, a governmental unit must publish a budget document that meets program criteria as a policy document, as an operations guide, as a financial plan, and as a communication device. The award is valid for a period of one year only.
