Message from Albany Fire Chief Kevin Kreitman:
Welcome to the Albany Fire Department Web Page. I hope that you find our site useful and informative.
The Albany Fire Department consists of 75 employees, 60 of which are assigned to emergency services. Our emergency crews operate out of four stations and are multi-role, providing fire service to 88 square miles and ambulance service to 205 square miles of the Willamette Valley.
For its size and location, the city of Albany is a unique community that presents challenges for the Fire Department. There is no other community in the nation that houses three large combustible metals facilities that produce products including titanium and zirconium. These potential hazards require specialized training for Fire personnel to properly handle such an emergency. The city of Albany is also home to a large senior population and major transportation areas, including three major highways and three railways. It is also the primary commerce center for Linn and Benton Counties.
In addition to challenges we face in our own community, the Albany Fire Department participates in a regional Hazardous Materials Response Team through the State Fire Marshal’s Office. This team serves Benton, Linn, Lincoln, Marion, and Polk Counties with spill and hazard control services.
Our approach to the challenges we face is defined in our mission, “Prevent and Protect From Harm.” Each member of the Albany Fire Department is committed to a proactive approach and putting forth their best efforts to prevent and protect our citizens and their property from harm. We also enlist the help of the public in this pursuit by becoming active in fire and life safety.
Enjoy your travels through our web site. You’ll learn about our various special teams, public education activities, and much more. We welcome your comments and feedback on how to improve this site as well as the services we provide.
Thank you for visiting us,
