What is FireMed?

FireMed is a membership program designed by the City of Albany Fire Department to provide affordable ambulance service to the community. It is not insurance but is prepaid coverage in excess of any health insurance or medical benefits.

How to Become a Member

To become a member with Albany FireMed, please complete an application and read the accompanying agreement:

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996, Public Law 104-191, provides national standards for the protection of health information, as applied to the three types of covered entities: health plans, health care clearinghouses, and health care providers who conduct health care transactions electronically. By April 14, 2003 covered entities must implement standards to protect and guard against the misuse of individually identifiable health information.
