Community Service

Providing excellent community service requires that we are accessible, consistent, responsive, and understanding. We will strive to provide assistance beyond the expectations of those we assist and seek effective solutions to problems. We value partnerships with other City departments and nonprofit, private, and other governmental agencies to bring the community together with those who can best meet their needs.

Diverse Organization

Open communication, compassion, creative energy, dedication, respect for others, and a sense of humor contribute to a positive working environment. These will provide a source of enjoyment and personal satisfaction for each of us. We value the cultural and social diversity that is reflected in our community and work force, and we welcome the changes and new perspective that this diversity brings.

Health and Welfare

Department personnel's physical and mental health are important to the overall performance of the department. We will be committed to look out for the health and welfare of each other in the performance of our jobs, whether it be during emergency or non-emergency times. We will remind others of the importance of safety and will be receptive to feedback from our peers if we are acting in an unsafe manner.
The following are guidelines for emergencies:

Personal Honesty and Integrity

Each of us has a responsibility to demonstrate the highest standards of personal integrity, trustworthiness, honesty, and fortitude in all of our activities during and away from our job. It is in this way that we can inspire confidence and trust in each other and in the community as it relates to our department and government.

Professionalism and Teamwork

We strive for personal and professional excellence and exhibit a professional attitude. Our commitment to professionalism is reflected in our support of continuing education and training. The spirit of professionalism requires a cooperative approach to problem-solving in the organization and the community. Each of us will demand as much from ourselves as we do from the organization as a whole. We achieve our best results from a team approach emphasizing high levels of trust, cooperation, and a commitment to excellent communications. We encourage individuals to exercise independent judgment and meet customer's needs through calculated risks consistent with these values.
