Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What are the hours of operation of the Human Resources office?
A: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday

Q: Can I apply for more than one job on an application form?
A: No. You must complete one application for each job for which you wish to apply. Many people leave the section for the job position and signature blank, fill in the rest of the application, then copy it, filling in the job title on each one and signing each one before they submit them.

Q: If I have applied for a job in the recent past, do I have to complete another application?
A: Yes. A separate application must be submitted for each position.

Q: Should I supply my résumé and/or letters of recommendation with my application form?
A: Supplemental materials are optional unless otherwise stated in the job announcement.

Q: Can my résumé substitute for an application form?
A: No. A City of Albany employment application must be submitted.

Q: Is there a physical examination, drug screen, etc.?
A: Depends on the position. If any are required, they will be stated in the job announcement.

Q: Can I apply on-line through your Web site?
A: Yes. You must submit an employment application on-line.
