RELAY FOR LIFE ALBANY
The Relay for Life of Albany will be held June 27 & 28 starting at 4pm and ending at 10am. The theme for the event is “No Place Like Hope”. Relay for Life is a challenging, yet fun way to raise money for the American Cancer Society. It involves teams comprised of participants from corporations, civic groups, hospitals, clubs, and families. Each team should consist of 8-15 people. The team registration fee is $125. Each team tries to raise as much money as they can for the American Cancer Society.
Relay for Life is an overnight event. Each team has a camp site around the track. During the event there should be one team member on the track at all times. There is entertainment, as well as special ceremonies; one to honor the cancer survivors and the other is a beautiful luminary lighting. The track is lined with luminaries in memory of someone lost to cancer, or in honor of someone currently fighting the disease.
Groups or individuals wishing to register a team can visit the website: www.acsevents.org/relay/or/albany or contact Kim Dammon at 974-5952 or Cynthia Freeman at 602-6058.
