The Albany Parks & Recreation Department endorses an integration philosophy. Activities listed in this brochure are available to all people. Volunteers are always needed to help facilitate the inclusion of individuals with disabilities. Age-appropriate, able-bodied people are needed to buddy up with people who may have a disability. Special Olympics:
Whether it’s skiing, basketball, bowling, or some other
sport, Special Olympics is looking to get you in the game. Programs are
available for youth and adults. Call Linn County Developmental Disabilities

Billiards or Pool at Lebanon Senior Center:
Every Tuesday from 4-6pm Lebanon Senior Center hosts a billiards
or pool time for people with disabilities. For more information contact

GENTLE YOGA
LBCC is offering two Gentle Yoga classes that will be held from 1-1:50pm and 2-2:50pm starting Monday, March 31, 2008. This class is suitable for people with physical limitations, including those who have trouble getting up and down from the floor.
OPVA RECREATION FUND
Are you an Oregon Paralyzed Veterans of America member? Then you are eligible for reimbursement from the Recreation Fund. You can be reimbursed for up to $200 for recreational activities over the course of the year. ABLE
Albany Parks & Recreation is working with a variety of agencies to promote leisure and socialization activities in the community for people with disabilities. If you have an interest in being involved with the group Agencies for Better Life Experiences, please call Theresa at 917-7767.
MOVE BEYOND PAIN
These classes are designed for people who suffer from fibromyalgia, CRS, arthritis, back pain, or other chronic conditions.
MOVEMENT ART AND PLAY
Designed for people with developmental disabilities this program combines some art and movement in the classes. The activities are held on Monday evenings from 6:30-7:30pm at Communicating Vessels at 238 S.E. 3rd Ave. in Albany. The cost is $5 per evening per person. MONTHLY DANCE AND SOCIAL
Join Albany Parks & Recreation and CJ’s Dance at this once a month dance and social on the last Saturday of each month from 7:30-9pm. During the first half hour CJ will provide some dance instruction followed by one hour of mixed social dancing. Light snacks will be provided. Cost is $5. If you cannot afford the fee please contact Theresa at 971-7767. Dances will be held at COOL! Swanson Park Action Center at 705 SE Railroad. RESPITE AFTERNOONS
Children with special needs between the ages of 2 to 10 are invited to a fun afternoon while their families take a break. The dates for spring term are Saturday, April 12th, May 17th, and June 21st. The activities are planned from 1-4pm at the Periwinkle Child Development Center on the Linn-Benton Community College campus, 6500 Pacific Blvd SW in Albany. Pre-registration is required and new families are asked to complete an information form to help the staff meet the child’s needs.
