How many chickens can you have in the city limits?

Albany Municipal Code Section 6.10.010 lists the area requirements and number of animals permitted in the city for more than 72 hours. Subsection (1) says: “ For poultry, fowl (including domestic and game birds raised for meat, eggs, breeding, or other purposes) and rabbits, not more than two animals on any lot less than 7,000 square feet in area; for each additional animal there shall be an additional 3,000 square feet of lot area.” For more information about animal regulations, contact Jim Dohr, Code Enforcement Specialist, at the Albany Police Department, at (541) 917-7680.
