News Release:
Los Lobos To Perform At 2005 NW Art & Air Festival

Albany Parks & Recreation and the Albany Visitors Association announce that Los Lobos will perform in the Oregon Amphitheater at Timber Linn Park for the sixth annual Wah Chang Northwest Art & Air Festival.

Los Lobos will perform at 8:00 p.m. Saturday, August 27, 2005. The concert is free of charge.

Los Lobos have performed together for over 30 years and are known for such hits as “La Bamba” and “What's Goin' On?”

The band was formed in 1974 by David Hidalgo, Conrad Lozano, Louie Pérez and Cesar Rosas. The foursome from Garfield High School in East Los Angeles started as a rock and roll band but soon chose a more traditional Mexican acoustic style. By adopting music from Tex-Mex, country, folk, rhythm and blues, and traditional Mexican songs from their roots, Los Lobos developed a distinct and original sound.

The band's first No. 1 hit was the theme of La Bamba, the movie about the life and times of Ritchie Valens, one of the few Mexican-Americans to reach the rock & roll charts before Los Lobos.

The three-day Wah Chang Northwest Art & Air Festival is scheduled August 26, 27 and 28, 2005 and features hot air balloons, children's art activities, arts and crafts marketplace, airplane displays and rides, Young Eagles flights, a variety of live music and other performing artists, food and wine.
