Geoffrey Hiller to Speak at Albany Public Library
Photojournalist and Fulbright Scholar Geoffrey Hiller will show his photos and host a free conversation on “Life in a Mega City: Images of Urban Bangladesh,” at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at the Albany Public Library, 2450 14th Avenue SE.
Hiller’s photography has been published in the United States, Europe, and Japan in such publications as Geo, Newsweek, Mother Jones, and The New York Times Magazine. His photo-essays have covered Asia, Latin America, Europe, and West Africa. Hiller was on the staff of the Brazilian edition of National Geographic for two years.
Hiller’s presentation in Albany will look at such questions as whether consumer choices are connected to a global work force, and the reasons for and challenges associated with the growth of mega cities such as Dhaka, Bangladesh, home to 15 million.
This event is part of the statewide Conversation Project: A New Chautauqua and is hosted by the Albany Public Library and sponsored by Oregon Humanities.
