Task force (ad hoc) to review Albany Development Code requirements that have been obstacles to business development and to make recommendations for revisions that balance a broad range community benefits.  Examples of obstacles to proposed development and redevelopment are:  small-scale manufacturing with onsite sales, use of vacant buildings, parking requirements, changes of use, and home businesses.

Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Task Force

Assignment completed; group disbanded.

Task force (ad hoc) to help collect necessary data to determine Albany's housing and community development needs.  The housing needs' assessment provides the background data of a strategic plan with specific courses of action (consolidated plan required by HUD) that would be the foundation of Community Development Block Grant program development.

Dangerous Dog Work Group

Assignment completed; group disbanded.

Short-term work group to review changes to Albany's dangerous dog ordinance. Ex-officio members include: Jim Delapoer (City Attorney), a representative from Albany Police Department, a representative from OSU College of Veterinary Medicine, a local emergency room physician, and Marilyn Smith, (City's Public Information Officer).

Historic Properties Ad Hoc Work Group

Short-term work group formed to evaluate key structures in the City’s historic district including the possible restoration and/or relocation of the historic Main Street church and the viability of relocating the Albany Post Office from its current downtown location. The group is comprised of the Mayor, Ward I City Councilors, and members of the CARA Advisory Board, Landmarks Advisory Commission, and Parks & Recreation Commission.

Industry Request Council Subcommittee

Assignment completed; group disbanded.

Appointed by the City Council, this subcommittee is working to discuss and hone in the industry request for funding related to workforce development in partnership with Linn-Benton Community College.

Public Safety Facilities Review Committee

Assignment completed; group disbanded.

The Public Safety Facilities Review Committee has been appointed  for the purpose of providing recommendations to the City Council about the Police station and Fire Station 11. The committee is made up of members of the public who are charged with reviewing the status of both public safety buildings and recommending future plans.

TLT (Transient Lodging Tax) Ad Hoc Advisory Committee

Assignment completed; group disbanded.

The TLT Ad Hoc Advisory Committee was appointed with the following assignment:

  1. To review the City’s existing TLT policy, state law, and the City’s current TLT expenditures;
  2. To understand how other communities are using their TLT;
  3. To review what recipient organizations are currently achieving with the funds and hear their concerns and ideas;
  4. To hear from the collectors of TLT;
  5. To consider metrics and how to measure the effectiveness of expenditures; and
  6. To, ultimately, work toward a policy recommendation to be brought back to the Council.

Transient Room Tax (TRT) Task Force

Assignment completed; group disbanded.

Task force (ad hoc) to establish a policy for the future disbursements of transient room tax (TRT) revenue to programs that can legally be funded from TRT with a recommendation to the City Council.
