Downtown streets pavement restoration to begin May 14

On Monday, May 14, 2018, CARA Downtown Streetscape Project will begin its final phase of pavement restoration.

Final road construction on Second and Third avenues within the project area will begin on Monday, May 14. Crews will work block by block starting with Third Avenue, between Ferry and Broadalbin streets. Each block will take approximately one week to complete, and the work will progress as illustrated on the map below. Each block will be closed to vehicular traffic during its week of reconstruction, but sidewalks will remain open to pedestrians at all times. Traffic control and detours will be put in place to route vehicles around the construction. Once all the blocks have been reconstructed, the final layer of asphalt will be placed in a continuous manner followed by the pavement markings. The work is anticipated to be complete by mid-July.

The City of Albany appreciates everyone’s patience during this final phase of construction. For regular project updates, join the Downtown Albany Streetscape Project Facebook group.
