The Albany Homeless Engagement and Resource Team (HEART) and Community Services Consortium will host the 14th annual HEART to Heart Resource Fair on Thursday, May 16, 2019, for individuals and families in Linn County who are homeless or living in poverty. This free event is scheduled from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club of Albany, 1215 Hill Street SE.

Representatives of more than 50 organizations will provide information and help with finding a job, health care, housing, rent or utility bills, alcohol and drug treatment, and services for veterans. Additional services available include vision screening, blood glucose screening and glaucoma checks by East Albany Lions Club. (Those who want blood glucose tests should fast for three hours before the test.) Individuals can also be tested for HIV, Hepatitis A, and C.

Those who need dental care can see a dentist at the Club’s dental clinic for extractions and examinations on a first-come, first-served basis from 8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.; dental hygienists are also available. Local hair stylists give free haircuts, some pet supplies will be available, and those with bicycles can get a quick checkup for them.

Jesus Pursuit Church will bring clothing to give away, and a limited number of reading glasses, sunglasses, daily living kits, shoes, new socks, items for children, and first-aid kits will be available. Parishioners from First United Methodist Church in Albany will provide lunch; Jacopetti’s Catering will provide breakfast.

Throughout the event, the Signs of Victory Ministries bus will pick up people who need a ride to the Fair. The bus will stop at the Bottle Drop, 2141 Santiam Highway SE; Carl’s Jr., 300 Airport Road SE; Costco Wholesale, 3130 Killdeer Avenue SE; Two Rivers Market, 250 Broadalbin Street SW; and the Albany train station, 110 Tenth Avenue SW. For more information about getting a ride, call 541-967-8545.

HEART includes representatives of local health and human services agencies, homeless shelters and advocates, the City of Albany, faith-based organizations, and Albany businesses.
