The Albany Senior Center (489 Water Ave NW) is a multi-purpose community center operated by the Albany Parks and Recreation as a focal point for seniors, services, recreation, and learning. Additionally, the Albany Senior Center is a community resource, providing information on aging, supports family caregivers, trains professional and lay leaders and students, and develops innovative approaches to addressing aging issues.

Working one-on-one and serving between 15 and 40 hours a week, Foster Grandparents are individuals over the age of 55 who provide support in schools, community organizations, treatment programs, correctional facilities, and childcare centers. They review schoolwork, reinforce values, teach social skills, and are a friend, mentor, and role model in a variety of settings.
RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program) is a nationwide network of active, older adults contributing their time and experience to vital community programs. A program of the Corporation for National and Community Service, RSVP is sponsored locally by Cascades West Council of Governments.
The Friends of Albany Area Seniors, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c) (3) charitable organization whose mission is to support and promote Albany Senior Center activities and services in the community.
The AARP Tax-Aide volunteers prepare taxes at the Albany Senior Center and the Albany Public Library for people of all ages with low to moderate income from February 1 through filing day in April. These tax returns are electronically filed at no charge. To help avoid long waits, appointments are required. Call 541-917-7760 to make an appointment for either location. The AARP Tax-Aide is locally sponsored by RSVP, a program of Community Services Consortium, and the Albany Senior Center.
Senior and Disability Services determines eligibility for medical and service programs to assist people with disabilities 18-64 years of age as well as older adults 65 years or older. Some of their programs (such as those funded through the Older Americans Act), serve people as early as 60 years of age.
If eligible, people may qualify for full or limited medical benefits, Lifeline, transportation services, in-home care services, subsidized payment for services in community based care facilities such as adult foster care, assisted living, and residential care. If determined eligible for services, Senior and Disability Services also facilitates supplemental payment for nursing home care.
The Senior Health Insurance Benefits Assistance program (SHIBA) is a statewide network of trained volunteers who educate, assist, and serve as advocates for people with Medicare. SHIBA volunteers help people with Medicare understand their rights and options in health insurance so that they can make informed choices.
The Senior Meals Dining Room program serves hot, nutritious midday meals and offers companionship to seniors who are at least 60 years old, their spouses and to Native Americans who are 55 years of age.
The Meals on Wheels Program is designed for homebound seniors and the disabled under 60 who receive Medicaid services and are unable to get to a dining room in their community. Our home delivered meals are delivered by volunteer Meals on Wheels drivers.
