Starting Service

An activation fee of $15.00 will appear on your first billing statement. Services are established Monday - Friday (excluding holidays) with one business day notice required.

If sending documentation via fax or email, please be sure and include a contact phone number at which you can be reached to finish setting up your account.

I own my property:

...but I bought my property less than 30 days ago:

Since your ownership has not been established for the property, you will need to fax, email, or bring in person to Albany City Hall, a copy of the warranty deed showing you have purchased your home.

I am renting:

You will need to fax, email, or bring a copy of your signed rental agreement in person to Albany City Hall.

There will be a refundable deposit due within 3 business days of starting service. For most residential accounts, this will be $80.00. Payment can be made via phone or online with a visa/mc or in person at city hall with a check, money order, cash, VISA/MC.

I am a property manager or listing agent:

If you are a new property manager or listing agent, representing the property owner, you will need to provide a property management or listing agreement to establish your authority to start utilities. Property Assignment Notices may be acceptable for bank owned properties that are not yet listed.

Stopping Service

Stopping your service permanently:

Services may be stopped Monday – Friday (excluding holidays) with one business day notice required.

Stopping your service temporarily:

  • If you are wanting to suspend your service temporarily, such as during an extended vacation, you may elect to "Snowbird" your account, for which time you will not be billed for service.
  • Your service must be suspended for a minimum of 30 days to be eligible to Snowbird.
