A short-term work group begins meeting this month to consider best-use options for two properties in and near Downtown Albany.
The Albany City Council approved formation of the Historic Properties Ad Hoc Work Group in February 2017 based on a recommendation from Mayor Sharon Konopa. The Mayor asked for community help in evaluating the former Presbyterian Church building at 401 Main Street SE, which the City of Albany owns, and the U.S. Postal Service property located at 525/527 Second Avenue NW.
The work group plans to meet in March, April, and May at various locations. The first meeting will be held at noon on Monday, March 6, 2017, at the Main Street church building.
Group members include two City Councilors, three members of the Landmarks Advisory Commission, two members of the Parks & Recreation Commission, two members of the Central Albany Revitalization Area Advisory Board, and the Mayor.
