The traffic pattern on Lyon Street between 5th and 7th Avenues SE will change temporarily, beginning Monday, May 15, 2017, for construction work related to the Albany Fire Department Station 11, 611 Lyon Street SE.
Underground water lines will be upgraded and replaced, and new curbs, gutters, and sidewalks will be built on the east side of Lyon Street in front of the new fire station. During this phase of construction, both traffic lanes on Lyon will be shifted to the west. No parking will be allowed on the west side of the street and U.S. Postal Service mail drop boxes are being temporarily removed until the work is complete.
Drivers entering downtown from Pacific Boulevard should expect a transition area near the bottom of the overpass off-ramp. The lanes will shift back to their normal position between 4th and 5th Avenues.
Work is expected to last about three weeks, and is being done with permission from the Oregon Department of Transportation. Similar work will be done on the west side of the street at a later date.
