Friday Movie Matinees
Everyone knows that the best way to watch a movie is with a bag of popcorn, a cold beverage, and good friends. You can laugh together at the antics, shed a tear or two at the final goodbye, and hold hands and gasp when the villain reappears. If you love a good movie and would like having someone to share it with, join us for Movie Matinees. Every other Friday beginning at 12:30 pm we offer a chance to view one of the latest box office hits (and the occasional Hollywood classic) at the Senior Center. The movies and refreshment are free. Call 541-917-7760 to find out what's playing.

Quilting is an art that has had a new surge of interest in recent years. In the past, most women learned to quilt. However as many began working outside the home, quilting became more and more of a lost art.
At the Albany Senior Center there is a group that meets every Thursday from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Much like women in the past gathered at quilting bees, these ladies work to piece together quilts while they talk, laugh, and share stories of their lives. These quilters are truly artisans, making quilts of many sizes and patterns. Some are donated to people in need or to help charitable organizations. Some are for sale in the Senior Center gift shop. They are always happy to take orders for quilts. You are always welcome to come and observe on Thursday. If you'd like to try your hand at cutting the squares or piecing the pattern, all skill levels are welcome.
