River Rhythms Concert Information
The 2015 River Rhythms concert series, presented by OFD Foods, opens Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Monteith Riverpark in downtown Albany. All concerts start at 7:00 p.m. unless otherwise noted, and are free but donations are encouraged.
Albany Residents Responsible for Grass and Weeds
Grass and weeds are overgrown and drying out on private property throughout Albany. Albany property owners and residents are responsible for keeping the vegetation short and safe from fire.
Burning ban starts June 12 in Linn, Benton and Marion counties
A ban on all open and backyard burning will go into effect on June 12 in Linn, Benton and Marion counties. The Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) and the fire defense boards of the three counties announced the ban, which aims to reduce the incidence of open debris burns escaping control. The restrictions will extend through Oct. 15 or later, depending on fire danger.
North Albany Road Detour begins June 12, 2015
Beginning Friday, June 12, 2015, North Albany Road will be closed to through traffic between Quarry Road and the Portland & Western Railroad tracks to allow complete reconstruction of the roadway, upgrading of underground utilities and replacement of the bridge at Thornton Lakes. Access for local traffic will be maintained during construction.

Teen Volunteers needed at Albany Public Library
Young people going into seventh through twelfth grades are invited to sign up to do volunteer work throughout the summer at either Albany Public Library. Volunteers will assist with children’s programs, helping to set up furniture and materials, instructing children on projects, managing groups of children during the activities, and cleaning up the room afterwards.
