Public Works Department
Charged with providing and maintaining the infrastructure necessary for a modern city, your Public Works Department provides continual services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year to help you and your family live a comfortable and healthy life.
When's the last time you turned on your water tap and wondered if there would be any water there? Most likely, never. Our job is to assure that you have safe and plentiful water available when you need it.
Ever wonder what happens when you flush your toilet or drain your sink? Probably not. That's because each and every day millions of gallons of waste water and materials are carried through your public sewer system for safe and effective treatment and disposal, and you don't even give it a second thought.
You never have to pay a toll charge when you drive to work, the store, to school, or play in the City of Albany. Your public streets are maintained by your Public Works Department along with street trees, traffic signals, storm water systems, and even the Albany Airport!
Your public employees work hard for you each and every day and they're proud to be able to make your life safer and easier.
Try our links to the right to learn more about the services we provide and about some of the challenges we face together to provide quality public services for a better Albany!
